How strange is this.

Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.

After about six months, the staff noticed Oscar would make his own rounds, just like the doctors and nurses. He’d sniff and observe patients, then sit beside people who would wind up dying in a few hours.

Apparently it doesn’t freak out the selected patient, as they are usually too ill to realise the cat with them.

Also understandably, some families have put the cat outside, while the patient is nearing his end, the cat, however, paces up and down outside.

Most families are grateful for the advanced warning, although one wanted Oscar out of the room while a family member died. When Oscar is put outside, he paces and meows his displeasure.

How freaky is that?

Objects were filmed in southhampton in August 2005.

The person who filmed them captured 11 objects on film and stated they were around for about 2 hours really interesting.

Amy had an experience with a Demon in ,Connecticut in the United States in 1986. Here is her story:

Many things occurred during my fifteen years living in this house. The one particular event that I am going to tell you about was one of the scariest that did occur. It was very frightening. We lived in a two-bedroom house, my mom and my 5-year-old brother were sleeping in one room and I was asleep in the other. Around 3:00 am I bolted upright in my bed because I heard the loudest, weirdest noise that I have ever heard in my life. It almost sounded like a car crash although it was coming from inside the house. I sat in my bed with my heart pounding in my chest unable to catch my breath. The noise lasted about 1 minute but it seemed to go on forever, to this day I cannot forget the sound. I got out of the bed and looked out my window, I couldn’t figure out if I had been dreaming or what. I didn’t see anything out the window, I opened my bedroom door and didn’t see anything either. I got back into bed and after my heart rate calmed down was able to fall back into a restless sleep.The next morning my mom said to me “Did you hear that noise last night?” I said “yes” and then she preceded to tell me that right before that noise had happened, my 5-year-old brother had woken up my mom and told her that his feet were burning, that someone was burning his feet and then he changed his voice and said “Mommy, someone told me to GO TELL YOUR MOTHER” and then he clung onto her neck and cried. Then the noise came .She said that it had come from near her door, so we looked at her door and were shocked at what we saw. Three long, deep scratches were in the door but were not there before. We were terrified. We never said anything to my brother until about 5 years ago (he is now 21). My mom hoped that in time he would forget the episode. Other things that happened were minor in comparison. The toilet would flush all the time by itself, the telephone cord would swing round and round, and we would wake up in the morning and all of the doors would be wide open. We finally moved out, but I will never forget what happened.”

I’ve started this thread to see if anyone speculates 2012 being the year of alien contact or conflict with these beings. Everything ends up being false whether it was the 2000 scare or other prophecies claimed by others over the years. I’d like to get my fellow ATS members’ opinions on what may occur or if it’s all just nonsense. A friend of mine kept having nightmares of aliens attacking Earth with there ufos and had tons of motherships on reserve watchin’ the battle go on. I know this is all fictional, but what if some unholy event of that nature were to occur around the year 2012. How would you react ,what would you do to stop this if you can, or what you think the government might do if this were to happen. Will they reveal all they have hid from us of alien presence on Earth over the past 20,000 years or would they alienate us and stay in their underground facilities. This is all speculation so don’t target me or bash me in any way,just kiddin’, everybody is invited to participate or add on their own speculations.

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) — HIV-infected babies given antiretroviral drugs in the first weeks of life were four times more likely to survive than those left untreated, raising hopes that more young lives can be saved, new research suggests.

Drugs given to infected infants in South Africa – even though they appeared healthy – helped them live longer than babies who started therapy after showing signs of disease, according to early results of a study sponsored by the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

World Health Organization guidelines now call for medicines to be administered only after signs of disease or a weakening immune system are observed. But the South African study was so promising that its findings were being released to the WHO and other health officials so they could consider modifying the recommendations.

“It’s very good news for young patients and parents,” co-author Dr. Avy Violari of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg told The Associated Press on Tuesday. She was to present the findings Wednesday at an International AIDS Society Conference in Sydney.

“We were not expecting such short-term benefits,” she said.

The trial, involving 377 babies between 6 weeks and 12 weeks old, started in July 2005 in Soweto and Cape Town. Of those given the drugs early despite no sign of illness, 4 percent died over a 48-week period compared to 16 percent in the group where treatment was delayed until the babies showed signs of disease.

Last month, an independent safety and monitoring board in London concluded the results were so overwhelming that the study should be altered to allow all the infants to begin treatment and that the early findings should be released to the scientific community.

“The results of this trial could have significant public health implications worldwide,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, a leading AIDS expert and director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a statement.

Every year, about a half million babies are born infected with HIV worldwide. Their immune systems are not fully developed within the first year, making them more susceptible to the disease.

No major negative side effects were documented in the trial, but the babies will be followed for three more years to determine whether they experience any, said co-author Dr. Mark Cotton.

He said it’s important for HIV-positive newborns to be identified early and for policy makers to support treatment.

“We’ve provided the information, but it has to be implemented into a program that works,” he said. “We’re quite relieved, in a way, that we have this finding and we have a clear directive of what to do.”

Also at the AIDS conference on Tuesday:

- Robert Bailey, a professor of epidemiology at the University of Illinois, said studies in Africa showed that uncircumcised men were 2 1/2 times more likely to contract HIV from infected female partners. Only 30 percent of men worldwide have had the procedure, mostly in countries where it is common for religious or health reasons.

- The American Foundation for AIDS Research said HIV infection rates among men who have sex with men were rising in Africa, Asia and Latin America, citing figures from UNAIDS. Studies also show that less than 5 percent of that group have access to HIV-related health care, the research group said.

With all this talk around ATS and abroad about the possible coming of martial law in the US, one of the things that crossed my mind is the amount of gun owners in the US and the impact that situation would have if there were to be an all out declaration of martial law.

Bear with me here, but I think it is safe to say that the gun issue in the country is divided from the Right to the Left. The Right generally are more likely to own guns, create militias and possess automatic weapons, where as the left are more prone to strict gun laws and are less likely to own gun.

These are intentional generalizations for the sake of illustrating a point. Certainly there are always exceptions.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I think that is fairly accurate representation of that state of guns in the US.

If we buy that rationale, then how does that impact the scenario of martial law?

IMO, the Right would be a great asset to this particular administration and the administration could potentially leverage the the Support (guns and all) of the Right to help maintain “order”.

The Left would, again generally speaking, would be easily subdued so that dissent would be less of a problem.

After all, the guys with the gun usually gets listened to.

Just thought id share something interesting.
A friend and i were sitting at our local resivor at sunset reflecting on paranormal events that have taken place in our lives, during this discussion, a swarm of small bugs began to form in front of us about 2 or 3 feet away.
I told him how when i was little i liked to pretend that all things could understand me, how i use to communicate with the disemboddied footsteps in my hall by asking them to do something such as tap once for yes, and twice for no. simple stuff like that. i never really believed it to work
I said to him, “like for example, see these bugs? Hey, bugs! would you mind flying up a bit so that we can see the sunset better?” as soon as i said those words they fluttered up 2 feet, not just some of them but the whole swarm.
i figured id try my luck again “hey bugs! will you squeeze together and fly a little lower again? right about here” i motioned with my hands where i wanted them to fly.
yet again they followed my command.

I was in a bookstore and was just flipping through a bargain book of weird happenings. One entry, only a couple of paragraphs long, caught my interest because I had never heard of it before.

The basic blurb was that in 1957, an unknown satellite was detected shadowing the Sputnik I craft. It was in a polar orbit, something that neither the Americans or Soviets were capable of at the time. There was a statement that ham radio operaters pickd up radio transmissions that were “decoded” (whatever that means) as being a star map that indicated the craft originated from Epsilon Bootes 13,000 years before. This object was dubbed “The Black Knight.”

Also in this blurb, there was mention that science fiction author Philip K. Dick believed that he was in contact with this object, which he wrote several novels about, and gave it various names (VALIS, Zebra).

So obviously intrigued, I did some searching on ATS and found no mention of it. Google had a few returns which indicated this story was first written about in John Keel’s “Disneyland of the Gods.” The effort is hampered because there are several legit satellite projects codenamed “Black Knight.”

The information of Dick’s experiences and writings indicated he received visions, and seemed to interperet the experience and object in somewhat Christian religious terms, in addition to strange communications and diagrams he couldn’t interperet. He eventually became paranoid Russian scientists were attempting to control the satellite. A science fiction writer infamous for his heavy drug use eventually living out a sci-fi story… seems to me just as likely that it was just his lifestyle catching up to him than any ET communication. But who knows.

In my searching, I also discovered a very close story from 1927, 30 years earlier. It involves the phenomena of Long Delayed Echoes. Essentially, these are radio transmissions that are reflected back, apparently from space, seconds to minutes after they are first sent. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. It could be atmospheric effects just making it appear as if the transmissions are coming from space, or it could ben an alien craft attempting to communicate with us. Logically, it would send back transmissions it recieved from Earth because it could be almost positive that we could receive it. Anyway, the story is that Norwegian scientists received strange radio “echoes” in 1927-28. In the 1970′s Scottish astronomer Duncan Lunan interpereted the delayed transmission as a star map… of Epsilon Bootis. Whether these are two instances of the same stragne transmissions, or one story is a retelling of the other is unknown to me. It wouldn’t be the first time the same ideas were repackaged and attempted to be passed off as a “new” anomalous story.

Anyway, I made this thread just to get the story out there, and to ask if anybody has any additional information regarding it. Below are links to everything pertinent I could find on the internet, and most are just retellings of the same story in different forms.
